I served a total of 12 years in the United States Marine Corps.
I served 9 years in an Active Duty capacity from January 1992-January 2001. I earned the rank of Staff Sergeant and was meritoriously promoted to both Private First Class (E-2) and Corporal (E-4).
During my Active Duty service, I have had the privilege and honor to serve with men and women in the armed forces of the United States and from other countries in the following locations:
Parris Island, SC (USMC Boot Camp)
A typical platoon of would-be Marines starts with around 90 recruits. At the end of the 13 weeks of boot camp, only 60 or so remain with an attrition rate of ~30%.
I was the Guide and the "Honor Graduate" for my platoon and, thus, meritoriously promoted to PFC. "Honor Graduate" means that I graduated as the #1 Marine in my platoon.
Camp LeJeune, NC "Camp Devil Dog" (Marine Combat Training)
Okinawa, Japan (Camp Hansen) (Duty Station - 1 year unaccompanied hardship tour) 7th Comm BN attached to 3rd Surveillance Reconnaissance and Intelligence Group (3rd SRIG).
Pohang, Korea (Operation TEAM SPIRIT 1993)
Twentynine Palms, CA (Duty Station - Information Systems Management Office (ISMO) 7th Marines - REIN

I have been aboard the USS Germantown, USS Wasp, and the USS Trenton. While on the Wasp, I did ship-to-shore operations via an LCAC.
I have flown in a CH-46 Sea Knight and a CH-53E Super Stallion.
I was Open Water S.C.U.B.A. SSI certified. I completed my first open water dive in the Sea of Japan (East Sea) in Naha, Okinawa, Japan.
I earned the highest level USMC swim qualification: Water Survival Advanced (WSA: "Tread Till You Die"). Statistically, there is a 75-80% attrition rate.
I was a "Close Combat Instructor" in the Marine Corps in the Linear In-Fighting Neural-Overriding Engagement (L.I.N.E.) methods.
Not long after I exited the Corps, in 2001, the the Marine Corps switched from LINE as their close combat training, to the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP). When I went back into the Corps (Reserves), my LINE instructor status was defunct due to the changing of the systems.
While in the Reserves I earned the Tan MCMAP belt.
I have completed the "Marine Corps Marathon" (26 miles, 385 yards) in Washington, D.C. twice and have run a number of half-marathons, 5Ks, and 10Ks.
I served 3 years in the Marine Corps Reserves from May 2013-May 2016.
Due to various world events happening during this time-frame and after over a decade of a break in service, I trained for one year to get back into "Marine Corps shape". My goal was to be deployed with my unit or to be attached to a forward-deployed unit.
I was sworn back into the Marine Corps on May 15, 2013.
I served as a Staff Sergeant (E6) serving as a "Cyber Network Systems Chief" (MOS 0659).
I served as the Staff Non-Commisioned Officer In Charge (SNCOIC) of Headquarters Platoon.
My platoon, the Communications Company, 14th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, consisted of 30-40 Marines that were in my charge. We were based at Indianapolis, IN, but are now based out of Cincinatti, OH.
During my service, I served with the 2nd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, known as the "Empire Battalion" 2/25. Vis Pugnare, Constantia Vincere "Power to Fight - Always to Triumph".
My reserve enlistment ended on May 15, 2016. I was never able to be forward deployed.
