Family

I am married to Chrissy, have six children, and three grandchildren:

• I have two children: Emily (32) and Sara (29). I have two grandchildren from Emily: Amelia (6) and June (3).

• I have four children by marriage: Alyssa (23), Preston (20), Austin (16), and Aria (10). I have another grandchild from Alyssa: Emersyn (1).

• My son-in-law, Austin (32), also served on Active Duty in the Marine Corps F.A.S.T.

• I have a PommyBear "Harlan" (7) who is my "best buddy"!

Veterans & First Responders

Each month, I financially support the Tunnel To Towers Foundation (T2T).
Since 9/11, T2T has been helping America’s heroes.

• T2T's "Smart Home Program" builds mortgage-free smart homes for our most catastrophically injured veterans and first responders.

• T2T's "Fallen First Responder Home Program" pays off the mortgages of fallen law enforcement officers and fireghters killed in the line of duty that leave behind young children.

• T2T's "Gold Star Family Home Program" honors the legacy of those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. The Foundation will provide a mortgage-free home to surviving spouses with young children.

• T2T is also committed to eradicating veteran homelessness and helping America to Never Forget the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

Gracie BJJ/Boxing

Should men be dangerous and capable of violence?

My high school sport was boxing. I trained at Terry Middleton's gym in New Albany, IN.

I first started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) in August of 2014. I have trained at:

• • • "Fight Factory" (formerly "Griffin's Submission Academy") under Chris Griffin (Gi).

    • Gracie University (No-Gi).

    • 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu and boxing at the "Louisville Combat Academy/10th Planet" under Adrian Jenkins (No-Gi).

    • "Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Louisville" under Allan Manganello (Gi).

Drift Skating

• • Drift skates are the ultimate inline skating thrill-ride, combining the concepts of skateboarding, surfing, and snowboarding.

  • I picked this hobby up in 2021 after watching this.

Reading/Movies

• • My favorite movie is "Interstellar".

  • My favorite author is Stephen King. You may be familiar with some of his popular titles like, "IT", "Misery", and "The Shining".

  • I also enjoy biographical, documentaries, and true crime.

  • I enjoy reading a wide variety of genres on my Kindle Paperwhite, although I do prefer a physical text. Lately, I've been reading, "The Courage To Be Disliked: How to free yourself, change your life and achieve real happiness".

Coding

In addition to teaching JavaScript each day to my high school students, most recently, I have participated in Replit's "100 Days of Python".

Spanish

I have previously used Rosetta Stone, Super DuoLingo, and Audible to learn Spanish. Most days, I would listen and practice Spanish during my work commute. I want to be able to communicate and get to know people in my community and school that speak Spanish.  ¡Gracias por visitar mi sitio web!

In the DuoLingo app I have:

• Earned over 125K eXPerience points 

• Learned over 1,700 words.

• Achieved a Spanish score of 40 on the CEFR scale (A2 Level). This means that I can typically handle simple conversations of daily topics.

Health & Fitness

• • I utilize a Tonal strength training system at my house.

  • For cardio, I mainly ride my Peloton bike or Peloton Tread.

    • I also use my Meta Quest 2 to play "Supernatural", "Beat Saber", and "Pistol Whip" for some fun cardio.

  • I wear an Oura Ring 4 as my wedding band.

  • I try to close out my Apple Fitness Rings each day at the following settings:

    • Move Goal: 1,000 Calories

    • Exercise Goal: 45 Minutes

    • Stand Goal: 10 Hours Per Day

  • During the summer, you can often find me in the deep end of Kentucky Kingdom's "Big Surf" pool in Hurricane Bay, treading water. "Remember, there's no side of the pool in the ocean."

VR and Gaming

• • I enjoy playing games like "Onward", "Eleven Table Tennis", "Beat Saber", "Pistol Whip", "The Climb 2", "SuperHot", and "Resident Evil 4".

  • I use "Shadow" cloud-based gaming to play PC games from time-to-time. My handle is "EchoSixHotel". The two main games that I play are:

    • "SQUAD" - Squad is a large-scale tactical MILSIM FPS that provides authentic combat experiences through teamwork, constant communication, and realistic gameplay.

    • "Battlefield 6" - Battlefield is also a large-scale tactical MILSIM FPS. While similar to Squad, it is a less realistic experience.

Mini-Farm

I live on a peaceful homestead in rural Indiana.
